After giving birth, most moms are more than reluctant to have any sort of picture snapped up with them and their new bub, but not with this mother.
While birth in general is a source of anxiety and fear for many new mothers-to-be, C-sections are also just as terrifying. This was the case for a client that Helen Carmina, a Guernsey-based photographer, recently worked with. “[The client] was telling me how terrified she was of having a c-section,” Helen captioned the photo on Facebook. “Well, last week she went into labor but had to have an emergency c-section after complications. She asked me to come over this morning and shoot this particular image as her worst nightmare proved to be what saved her and her child’s lives.” The image
gone viral ever since it was posted on Carmina's Facebook Page with moms from all over the world commenting and providing real-life snippets of their own personal experiences. As one mom wrote: "After two vaginal births I thought my third would be the same. I am thankful for modern surgical interventions and all avenues to assist in the deliveries of our precious babies. Without it neither my youngest, Olivia, or myself would be living today. Olivia was laying transverse, my uterus ruptured and a prolapsed cord. We lived!!! I carry my scar with pride for its battle we both won."
